Follow the steps in this video to see how to fix minor coolant antifreeze leaks in your Volkswagen Tiguan. Leaking coolant is one of the more common types of fluid leaks on Tiguans.

p2181 touareg

Engine coolant which is also called antifreeze or anti-freeze moves through the inside of your Tiguan's engine and keeps it from overheating. Coolant can leak from the reservoir or from the hoses, in Tiguans with the 2. The video above shows you where the coolant reservoir, hoses and connections on your Tiguan SE are located and the steps needed to fix minor leaks. A few things to note about coolant is that it is sweet tasting and highly toxic, so it can end up in the dog's stomach pretty quickly.

If you ignore a small coolant leak long enough, you will run out of coolant, which leads to an overheated engine and other serious, but highly avoidable, problems. In many Tiguans, an anti-freeze leak can cause the temp sensor to record high engine temperatures. Always protect yourself with safety glasses and gloves when working with the coolant on your Tiguan. So far we love our FIXD. We have already completed the job and now just waiting to see if check light comes back on again.

I have a Miata that we know is running rich and it feels like it is miss-firing but no check engine light. Can FIXD help me diagnose issues without check engine light on? Hey Connor! This will help you find a quality mechanic! The Nissan Altima service engine soon light came on.

If not fixed what will happened. I remedied all of the problems and my check engine light went away. But my fixd app sensor stills shows the code when I scan it. Does it just need to be driven around for a couple hundred miles? I have already driven about miles since the light went away. Please help me. Did what I was instructed to do and the problem was however remedied which was nice. Any help would be appreciated. Replaced my MAF censor, intake gaskets, catalytic converters, all 4 o2 censors, map censor, and wire harness for the maf.

TDI s : Jetta that I fill by myself. So temperature comes up to about degrees and stays there? I'm not seeing the problem. Where should the 2. The code is indicating a performance malfunction. It doesn't necessarily mean you're overheating. Performance malfunctions can be that the temperature is simply taking too long to reach operating temperature. This would be caused by a sluggish thermostat or a incorrectly reporting temperature sensor.

I realize that you already replaced the thermostat but if you bought a cheap Stant from Autozone then the chance remains that it is not performing as prescribed.

Here's what you need: - correct coolant and mix ratio - serviceable pump impeller not spinning on shaft - correct thermostat of proper temperature - properly functioning temperature sensor. Again, your code is likely due to the temperature not coming up in the proper amount of time.

This is either physically caused by the thermostat, or a sluggish temperature sensor taking it's own sweet time reporting to the computer. I'd get a VW thermostat and a new temperature sensor - provided all of the other items are correct. I would turn on the AC, to get the fans on, then verify that it would heat up to the desired temperature at idle.Altitude Adaptation, Signal Out of Tolerance.

Our certified mobile mechanics can come to your home or office to perform the Check Engine Light diagnostic.

This code indicates that the sensor is sending data to the PCM Powertrain Control Module indicating a cooler coolant temperature that may actually exist. The PCM compares the voltage readings of sensor 1, sensor 2, and how long the motor has been running. If the motor has been running for a time, the PCM concludes the coolant should be warmer than ambient temperature and uses this reasoning to determine which sensor is reading incorrectly and sets a code accordingly.

Usually a Check Engine Light is the only symptom that is observed. Connecting a scan tool and reading the scan tool data usually results in a quick diagnosis. The technician can simply compare the temperature reading of sensor 2 and compare this to the what the technician knows to be true. If the car is cold, the sensor should show how much and vice versa. In some cases, the sensor can just be out of specification with what the PCM expects to see. In this case, it will be necessary for the technician to remove the sensor and bench test it.

Bench testing of this type of sensor requires a multimeter that can be set to ohms and something to heat the sensor up with. Usually a small butane torch will do the trick. The multimeter is used to measure the sensor resistance while the torch is used to gently warm the sensor. There should be a proportionate change in resistance as the sensor is warmed. Depending on the manufacturer, each sensor will have a different temperature to resistance curve.

This information will be supplied by the manufacturer.

Failing to check the coolant level is easy to forget. A low coolant level can lead to many unpredictable symptoms and codes. The coolant level must be full, and the thermostat must be operating correctly before this code can be accurately diagnosed. The cooling system is the system that keep your engine from overheating. With two sensors, it can be confusing as to which sensor is sensor 1 and which one is sensor 2.

At times, we make the mistake of replacing the wrong sensor. Determining which sensor is sensor 1 is not always as simple as it seems. Some manufacturers information is better than others. If a mechanic is unable to be sure which sensor is which, depending on their cost and difficulty to replace, it may be prudent to replace them both.

Time should be taken to inspect the connector and the related harness.Almost all Porsches from about on use a sophisticated Bosch engine management system called Motronic.

The Motronic system also called the Digital Motor Electronics or DME is hands down the best overall fuel injection system that you can use when you consider price and performance. Ignition timing and fuel delivery are all controlled by a digital map stored within the main fuel injection DME computer. The computer takes input from a variety of sensors that are located on the engine: engine coolant temperature, crank angle, throttle position, exhaust gas oxygen mixtureambient air temperature and mass air flow.

The DME is programmed from the factory with certain performance characteristics so that the engine will react well under a host of varying conditions. As with any electronic device, components can fail, triggering problems with the system. The system is designed to react to these failures and indicate them to the driver, so that they can be fixed.

If one of the computer's sensors is not working properly, then the computer may not be able to successfully identify the current state of the engine and choose the appropriate fuel mixture or timing advance level. When this happens, the fuel mileage drops, engine performance suffers, emissions increase and the car typically illuminates the 'check engine' light. Starting inthey were equipped with a more advanced version called OBD II, which was mandated by the US government, in order to standardize automotive repair and diagnostics.

The OBD system is responsible for monitoring and checking all of the fuel injection sensors and systems in the vehicle and sending a visual error message to the instrument panel if it finds a problem or irregularity with one of them. If there is a problem with a sensor or component, the computer logs a Diagnostic Trouble Code DTC in the main computer until it is read and reset.

In order to accurately find the sensor and fix the problem, you will need to find out which error code is being triggered by the computer. There is no method to pull these codes out of your Porsche without the use of a computer. The factory has produced a version of this tool for use by Porsche dealers, called the Porsche System Tester 2. You can indeed use a standard off-the-shelf OBD II reader available at any auto parts store, but it will only give you the standard read-out codes for the fuel injection system: you will not be able to do any extra diagnostics on any other area of the car.

Thankfully though, there is aftermarket software available produced by Durametric that performs almost all of the important reading functions that the PST2 does. If you're planning on working on your Cayenne yourself, I suggest that you pick up this essential tool. With a standard OBD II code reader, you can access and reset the codes on the car that are related only to the fuel injection system.

The Durametric tool does not program the computer though: you are still at the mercy of the dealer when it comes to making changes to any of the non-fuel injection settings on your car. The factory book will have extensive sections describing the various faults and what is needed to fix them. Typically a web search will provide you with the information you need as well.

Tip: Wire harnesses are a major cause of fault code problems. As the cars get older, the wiring harnesses have a habit of becoming what is commonly known as 'work hardened. Only by testing the continuity of the wires end-for-end will you be able to determine whether the wire is broken or not. Here it is, the holy grail of Porsche code reading. The Porsche System Tester 2 PST2 is a rare and expensive tool that can be used to diagnose multiple car systems on a variety of Porsches. Every dealer has one of these, or the later-model PIWIS tester so that they can quickly diagnose problems and change settings on the various computer systems within the car.
